Abstract

Article discussing the success of the Small Business Administration's microloan program in Maine. SBA administrator Erskine B. Bowles was in the state yesterday touring businesses that have benefitted from the program. U.S. represenative Thomas H. Andrews, a member of the House Small Business Committee, hopes the funding for the program will be increased from $34 million to $65 million in the next fiscal year. The increase could mean $1 million to $2 million in additional loans available to small businesses in Maine.
