Abstract

The Children's Museum of Maine in Portland is currently hosting an exhibit of lifecast sculptures of faces, arms and torsos called "Please Touch." The 72 sculptures, to the delight of people like 71-year-old Santina Olson, who is visually impaired, are designed to be touched. The sculptures were made by Willa Schalit and Dean Ericson. They include lifecasts of Paul Newman, Robin Williams, George Bush, Sophia Loren, Julius Erving, Brooke Shields and other famous people.
