Abstract

Maine Employers' Mutual Insurance Co., the state's largest workers' compensation insurer, yesterday announced that it expects to cut its rates this summer as the first step in reducing rates 30 percent by late 1997. A drop in the number of workplace injuries statewide and the company's financial situation should allow it to reduce rates. Commercial Union Insurance Co., another big compensation insurer, wants to cut its rates by an average of 5.1 percent. Details.
