Abstract

The South Portland City Council last night voted 4-3 against approving a 1994-95 city budget, meaning that municipal departments and the school system have no authority to spend money beginning July 1. If no budget is passed by July 1, the council will have 90 days to enact a new budget, and if it fails to do so the $37.1 million budget first proposed in March will go into effect. Details.
