Abstract

A three-year study of the shoreline at Sebago Lake State Park in Naples conducted by the Maine Geological Survey has determined that the beach is stable, and is not eroding as it did in the years before 1991. Officials with the state Bureau of Parks and Recreation feared erosion was destroying the park's beach, which draws around 80,000 visitors annually. The study will do little to settle the ongoing conflict over summer lake levels, which pits cottage owners around the lake against marina owners and boaters. Details.
