Abstract

The state Office of Data, Research and Vital Statistics this month released figures that show Maine's population grew between 1990 and 1992 by 3,742 residents annually, as compared to an annual increase of 10,000 residents during the 1980s. During the period 1990-92, births outnumbered deaths by 13,188, and 4,768 residents left Maine for other states. Portland lost 1,756 residents; Lewiston lost 1,801; Auburn lost 571; and Bangor lost 1,093. Details.
