Abstract

Alexander M. Gorlov, a former Soviet engineer who helped design the Aswan High Dam in Egypt, has developed a new hydropower technology that could harness more energy from the region's rivers and streams. Central Maine Power Co. sponsored Gorlov's work at Northeastern University in Boston, and has acquired the rights to the invention. The utility plans to build a prototype on the Androscoggin River next summer. Details.
