Abstract

Tibetans mingled with around 100 Mainers yesterday for a Tibetan bazaar and other events marking the end of Tibet Days, a two-week series of events honoring the culture of that country. The bazaar at the Portland Performing Arts Center was organized by the Friends of Tibet in conjunction with the Maine Council of Churches. The series began May 22 with a visit by two Buddhist monks, and focused on the importance of saving the culture of Tibet, a country occupied by the Chinese since 1959. Details.
