Abstract

State police at the York weigh station yesterday inspected 500 trucks in five hours, issuing 36 tickets and putting several trucks out of service. A similar checkpoint in Kittery resulted in seven trucks being put out of service due to violations. Police, trying to raise public awareness about truck enforcement efforts in the state, invited the media to observe their actions. A police spokesperson said the number of tickets issued was typical.
