Abstract

The Portland School Committee last night voted unanimously to apply for as much as $200,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to move the city's teen clinic from City Hall to Portland and Deering high schools. The grant would fund the clinics for three years, and the clinics would provide counseling, sports physicals and routine care, and conduct pregnancy and HIV testing. Officials said no condoms would be provided in school-based clinics until policies change to allow their distribution. Details.
