Abstract

The Portland Planning Board this morning voted 6-1 in favor of allowing the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum to temporarily lay almost two-thirds of a mile of track along the base of the Eastern Promenade from India Street to Fish Point. Board members, responding to concerns from Munjoy Hill residents that the train would disrupt the neighborhood and cause air pollution, said there was enough evidence to show that it wouldn't pose a health hazard or disturbs residents.
