Abstract

Greater Portland received 1.25 inches of rain in June, the least amount since 1971. The month was also a record-breaking June in terms of warmth, with an average temperature of 66 degrees, as compared to the previous June high average of 65.9 degrees in 1976. The combination of warmth and dryness has hurt local farmers, necessitating continuous irrigating and shortening the pick-your-own-strawberries season. Details.
