Abstract

William Clarke, 62, was charged with attempted murder in the shooting Tuesday night of Charles Burr, 47, manager of Hemlock Hills Campground in Standish. Clarke has been living at campgrounds for at least a year, and apparently shot at Burr because Burr was trying to evict him. A Portland District Court judge ordered Clarke to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Burr is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center after undergoing surgery three times. Details.
