Abstract

Maine Medical Center's Family Practice Residency Program, which currently admits around 500 patients a year to Mercy Hospital, will open a unit next month for those patients. The move is designed to strengthen the hospital's role in managed care, and will further emphasize the benefits of primary care and its role in the evolving health care system. The hospital earlier this month formed a joint venture with 250 of its doctors to provide medical care and health coverage for local employers for a set fee. Details.
