Donald DeMatteis, superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Banking, yesterday said that KeyCorp must get rid of some deposits in Greater Portland and Bath-Brunswick in order to win regulatory approval of its purchase of Casco Northern Bank from Bank of Boston. The bureau's analysis of the proposed sale raised antitrust issues, and one analyst says Key could be forced to sell as much as ten percent of the merged bank's $3 billion in assets. Details.
