Abstract

John Devine, legal counsel to Gov. McKernan, yesterday announced that the governor will proceed with his plan to give pollution credits earned through the state's automobile emissions testing program to Louisiana-Pacific Corp. so it can expand its New Limerick facility. An estimated 70 new jobs will be created through the expansion, and Louisiana-Pacific says it must be allowed to pollute more if the expansion is to proceed. The announcement came shortly after a newly created committee began looking into the controversial testing program. Details.
