Abstract
Members of Gorham's Transportation Committee are proposing the construction of a new limited-access highway that would run between Route 22 in Gorham and Route 114 in Scarborough. The 2.2-mile bypass would direct traffic around a major bottleneck, the intersection of routes 114 and 22, and would decrease traffic on Running Hill Road. The Maine Department of Transportation is considering the plan, but noted that the state's Sensible Transportation Act requires towns to consider alternatives to new construction before recommending such an approach.
