Abstract

Thunderstorms swept through southern New Hampshire and Maine yesterday, with lightning striking buildings, starting fires and setting off burglar and fire alarms. Four sea kayakers from New Hampshire who sought shelter in a World War II-era bunker in Kittery were left unconscious after lightning struck the bunker. Around 16,000 customers of Central Maine Power Co. lost power for several hours in the afternoon and evening. Details.
