Abstract
SafeCard Services Inc. of Wyoming will purchase Wright Express of South Portland for $35.5 million in cash. John Birk, president of Wright, said the company will remain in South Portland, operate as an independent unit and retain its 134 employees. Wright was founded in 1983 as a division of A.R. Wright oil company in Portland, and focuses on providing credit cards and financial information to truck fleets. Revenue at the company has been increasing at an annual compounded rate of 40 percent.
