Abstract

Environmental and public health advocates yesterday used state and national figures compiled in a National Resource Defense Council report that shows Maine water suppliers violated the federal Safe Drinking Water Act 366 times in 1992-93. Among states in the Northeast, only Rhode Island had fewer violations than Maine. The Bath Water District, cited for excessive levels of coliform in June 1992, was among the largest water suppliers to make the list of Maine violators. Details.
