Abstract
Vladimir Berezanskiy, 29, a Connecticut truck driver, yesterday fell asleep at the wheel of his truck on Interstate 95 in Freeport, drifted off the highway into the breakdown lane and then ran along a ditch for 200 yards, comming to rest in a muddy gully. Fortunately, the truck did not collide with any other vehicles and caused no injuries. Berezanskiy had not slept for 2-1/2 days before the accident. Federal law prohibits truckers from driving more than 10 hours without taking an 8-hour break. The accident is the fourth in the last nine month involving fatigued truck drivers. Briefly details the four accidents.
