Abstract

Cliff A. Richardson, the first black man to win a municipal office in Portland, won one of three seats on the Portland School Committee, with nearly half the votes cast in a nine-way race, as did Mrs. Mary L. Sottery and H. Gordon Crowley. Photos of winning candidates and election returns.
