Abstract

One of an occasional series of articles on "The Science of Maine Life." Sand dollars, an important source of food for some species of commercial fish, are suffering from dredging, the misuse of wetlands and erosion caused by real estate development. The species found in Maine, Echinarchnius parma, ranges from Labrador to New Jersey, and grows to about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Details.
