Abstract

Third in a four-part series on managing medicine. L.L. Bean of Freeport and Cole-Haan of Yarmouth are two Maine companies that are embracing managed care as a way to control health insurance costs. Bean has a point-of-source plan with Healthsource Maine, while Cole-Haan last winter dropped Healthsource and chose a lock-in style Health Management Organization plan with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine.
