Abstract

Saco Mayor Mark Johnston yesterday said that the town of Old Orchard Beach failed to consult with Saco when it embarked on a $2.93 million plan to pipe treated sewage into Saco Bay. Johnston said 2,000 feet of the 3,200-foot, 36-inch-diameter sewage pipe will be on Saco's side of the boundary, and Saco officials are concerned about responsibility in the event of a sewage spill.
