Abstract

Pine State Recycling of Nobleboro has agreed to pay the state $1 per tire for every tire it removes from the Durham tire dump of the late John Emerson, who collected between 2 million and 5 million tires over the course of 30 years. The company will send some of the best truck tires to a Brazilian company to ship south and use on trucks there. Pine State Recycling collects tires to be used on trucks and cars and chips the rest to be used for fuel and paving products, and will buy between 500 and 800 tons from the Emerson dump. Details.
