Abstract

The 650,000 mice residing at Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor produce some 152 gallons of mice urine every 24 hours, causing half of the lab's employees to develop an allergic reaction to a protein in the urine. A ongoing study in a detached building on the lab's grounds is trying to find a specific solution for employees' allergy problems.
