Abstract

The Maine Office of Substance Abuse and the federal Center of Substance Abuse Treatment yesterday sponsored a conference in Portland on treating opiate addiction, and the major topic of discussion was methadone treatment for heroin addicts. The first two methadone clinics in the state are scheduled to open during the first half of September, both in South Portland near the Maine Mall. The Center for Behavioral Health Inc. of Rhode Island plans to open a clinic at 400 Westbrook Avenue, while Habit Management Inc. of Boston will open one at 53 Darling Avenue. Details.
