Abstract

G.H. Bass Shoe & Co. of South Portland, DeCoster Egg Farms of Turner and Bounty Foods of Winthrop are just some of the Maine companies profiting from the increasing political and economic stability of the Middle East. Saudi Arabia in 1993 imported $20.9 million in Maine goods, while Israel imported $7.1 million in products from the state. Sales to both countries increased substantially after 1992, and Saudi Arabia is now the state's 11th largest export destination. Details.
