Abstract

The Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel is among the hundred nationwide that have opened their trails to mountain bikes during the off season. Many of the ski areas allow bikers to use the ski lifts, and the result is downhill rides at speeds of up to 40 mph. Sunday River began running lifts for mountain bikers in 1990, and since then has opened 45 miles of maintained bike trails served by two lifts. Details.
