Abstract

Attendance at this year's Maine Festival was 17,000, an all-time high and a 25 percent increase over last year. Burl Hash, festival director, attributed the rise in attendance to a larger publicity campaign, which included a full-color poster and advertisements in suburban Boston newspapers. Three thousand artists and performers participated in the event, and organizers anticipate being able to retire their debt this year.
