Abstract
Lee Cranmer, supervisor at an archaeological dig at Fort Halifax Park in Winslow, yesterday said his crew has unearthed Indian artifacts dating back 3,200 years and a variety of 17th century European items. The dig, the sixth at Fort Halifax, is sponsored by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, and is aimed at determining whether the site is a trading post built around 1650 or a fortified Indian village burned in 1692 by Benjamin Church.
