Abstract

The leaders of Local 6 of the International Association of Machinists, the largest union at Bath Iron Works, more than a year ago signed a pact with BIW management to try the concept of teaming, which breaks down some of the traditional boundaries between labor and management. Union members on Friday will vote on a new contract that would make teaming an integral part of work at BIW. Many of the union members are suspicious of the changes that teaming will bring about, and last week some charged that union leaders are selling out the rank and file. Details, related article.
