Abstract

Dover-Foxcroft District Court Judge Jessie Gunther yesterday granted Sister Maria Nau release without bail on condition that she have no contact with firearms. The 63-year-old Greek Orthodox nun, who, on Friday and Saturday, was involved in armed standoffs with police, entered no plea to a charge of criminal threatening. District Attorney Christopher Almy said authorities didn't want to keep the woman in jail.
