Abstract

Almost 91 percent of the 5,300 members of Local 6 of the International Association of Machinists, the largest union at Bath Iron Works, voted Friday on a new three-year contract. The contract was approved by a two-to-one margin, with nearly 62 percent of the union's members voting in favor of the accord. The last contract, voted on in 1991, was approved 3,433 to 656, a more than five-to-one margin, but only 60 percent of the membership showed up to vote. Details.
