Abstract

The "Cops in Shops" program, sponsored by the Portland Project and funded by beer and wine makers and local wholesalers, will put undercover police officers behind convenience store counters, in an attempt to prevent minors from buying alcohol. Around 50 Portland police officers, two from Westbrook and six from South Portland will participate in the sting operation. The Portland Project is paying the $35,000 in overtime costs for the operation.
