Abstract

In June, the Portland Police Department conducted a customer friendly approach to speeding on Washington Avenue, during which they pulled motorists over and gave them fliers asking them to drive five miles per hour slower to make the roads safer. The Scarborough Police Department tried the idea last month in Old Millbrook, and residents and town councilors liked it so much the program has been expanded. Police yesterday stopped several dozen motorists in the Pleasant Hill Road area, and handed out leaflets asking them to slow donw. Details.
