Abstract

Dorothy Plummer of Portland died January 6 at age 94, and a will drafted in 1979 benefitted seven Maine charities. Daniel T. Haley Jr., Plummer's friend, neighbor and insurance agent, claims that Plummer in 1985 signed an agreement that would allow him to purchase Plummer's house on the Eastern Promenade at a bargain price. If Haley's claim is upheld, the charities stand to lose more than $127,000. The case is currently being argued in Cumberland County Probate Court. Details.
