Abstract

David Brown, the state's emergency management director, is concerned that this winter's snowfall has set the stage for flooding similar to that experienced in 1987. With the Kennebec River packed with ice, it's probable that the U.S. Coast Guard will be asked to send ice-breaking ships in to minimize the potential of ice dams forming. Details, related stories.
