Abstract

The South Portland City Council yesterday voted 5-2 in favor of sending to voters in November a proposal to build a $6 million performing arts center and cafeteria at the city's high school. The $6 million would be part of a $7.75 million bond issue referendum on city capital improvements, and would fund an 800-seat auditorium and a 480-seat cafeteria. The remaining $1.75 million in bonds in the referendum would fund a $1 million sewer project, the widening of Western Avenue and a $250,000 transfer and recycling center. Details.
