Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) officials have presented Westbrook city officials with graphs that show that a proposed municipal utility could charge 8 cents per kilowatt hour compared to the current CMP price of 11.2 cents. The figures would only hold true if the city-run utility could buy power cheaply, capture all customers and avoid paying for past investments made by CMP. Two consultants working for the city expressed skepticism about the figures. Details.
