Abstract

York County sheriff Michael Bemis yesterday released a 30-page report on safety on the Maine Turnpike. The report, based on months of research, shows there are more accidents per mile on the four-lane areas of the Turnpike than on the six-lane portions at the southern end of the Turnpike. Bemis plans to present his findings to the Maine Department of Transportation next month. Details.
