Abstract

Details on yesterday's gubernatorial candidates' debate in Bangor, sponsored by the Maine Municipal Association. Independent candidate Jonathan Carter stood alone among the candidates in his support for increases in state aid to school funding, property tax cuts by raising or expanding state taxes and a proposed referendum capping property taxes at one percent of local valuation.
