Abstract

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court upheld a ruling by Chief Justice Daniel Wathen that said that a trial judge exceeded his authority when he set special conditions for the incarceration of two child sexual offendes vulnerable to abuse by other inmates. In sentencing Fawn Buzzell, 56, and Arthur Ellis, 33, Superior Court justice Donald Alexander set five special conditions that included protection form other inmates.
