Abstract

Starting this week, The Portland Newspapers and the Maine Council of Churches begin "Reader Roundtables: The Voter's Forum." The series will consider job creation; size and structure of state government; tax structures and levels; and welfare reform. This issue, on job creation, contains articles on the economy and its effect on jobs; the broad-based search for economic goals; quality of life and its ability to attract businesses; and the gubernatorial candidates' views on the issues.
