Abstract

Ten students, members of the University of Southern Maine Chemistry Club, on Tuesday were exposed to radioactive gas during a tour of the Maine Yankee nuclear power plant in Wiscasset. The students paased through an area where rubidium gas had been released, and five members of the group set off highly sensitive radiation monitors afterwards. Marshall Murphy, spokesman for Maine Yankee, said no one received a measurable dose of radiation during the incident. Details.
