Abstract

Officials of Jay, Norway, Old Orchard Beach and Westbrook yesterday announced the formation of the Citizens Committee for Competition, designed to coordinate their separate efforts to establish municipal electric utilities. The four municipalities will ask residents on November 8 to approve the formation of municipal electric utility corporations, and if voters approve the measures the communities will undertake feasibility studies to determine whether to activate the corporations.
