Abstract

Gov. John McKernan this week will convene a State House summit to explore how best to protect Maine women's access to abortion clinics. Recent protests by anti-abortion activists have prompted a Falmouth doctor and a Rockport clinic to stop performing abortions, leading McKernan to state that those who provide abortion services are being harassed. Officials from the U.S. attorney's and the state attorney general's offices will join McKernan and representatives of abortion providers to be briefed on the status of federal and state laws concerning the issue.
