Abstract
House Republicans have opted to take no immediate stand on how to deal with Speaker John L. Martin's involvement in the recent ballot-tampering scandal. The Republicans considered asking for Martin's resignation, seeking a new election for speaker, launching a separate investigation, and turning the matter over to a bipartisan state ethics commission, but could not reach a consensus.
