Abstract

Officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said only 5,551 Maine homes and businesses have flood insurance, and only a quarter of Mainers who live in flood-prone areas have adequate protection. Some 20,000 structures in Maine are at risk for flood damage, with people in low-lying areas near rivers being particularly vulnerable. Related article.
